Many people don’t know the differences between Invisalign® and clear braces, and if you are one of these people, we are happy to help you straighten things up! Both appliances are beneficial and successful, and they can both transform and change your smile. However, one appliance might be better for your situation, and these are the reasons why:

Invisalign:
Invisalign is an orthodontic treatment that consists of multiple clear, plastic aligners that cover all of your teeth like a rubber mouth guard would. Every aligner is removable, virtually invisible, and gradually changes your smile throughout time. You will come into our office every few weeks, depending on your treatment plan, to replace your aligner. Each time you replace your aligner, your smile will continue to shift. As you go through your treatment, you will be able to eat and drink whatever you would like, as long as you take the aligner out of your mouth while you do so, and your flossing and brushing techniques will not change. This treatment is only available to those who have non-serious alignment problems.

Clear Braces:
Clear braces, also known as ceramic braces, are an appliance that is glued to the front surfaces of your teeth. They are a similar appliance compared to traditional braces, but, instead of having metal wires and brackets, the clear braces have tooth-colored wires and brackets that blend in with your teeth, which gives you a natural look as you proceed through treatment. To continue changing your smile, you will need to come into our office frequently and get your appliance tightened and adjusted. This treatment is available to those who have non-serious alignment problems as well as those with serious alignment problems. As you go through treatment, you will need to be cautious of the foods and drinks you eat and drink, especially those that can break or stain your appliance. As far as brushing and flossing goes, you will need to make a few adjustments to your techniques. If necessary, your orthodontist will give you the guidelines you need to successfully brush and floss your teeth.
